Hey, Steve, thanks for adding this blog. We were just trying to find a showing so we can see this movie. It was released yesterday (8/15), but limited in where it's released. It seems that the closest showing is 200 miles from us, and we live in the 2nd largest city in Michigan! What can we do to get this movie shown in more cities? Does anyone know?

Lara:  I am glad that you don't watch the bad stuff.  I am frequently shocked at the negative, dirty, and violent movies that many on mychurch recommend on their profile pages.

Denise:  I don't want to ruin the ending for you.

Lara:  I agree.  To watch sin for entertainment is sin.

Put it this way Steve.  I hate movies that glamorises sex, violence and all the other stuff that people take for granted.  But I will watch a movie that amplifies or brings out the truth.  For example, the latest Rambo movie has countless scenes of violence in it.  But if people were to see the "behind the scenes" of why that movie was made, and listened to the actors of why they got involved in that movie, it portrays what's happening inside Burma that nobody takes notice of.  One of the actor's is currently under threat, and if he or his family were to ever step inside that country, they will be killed.  Seems strange how that is the country from where he came from isn't it?  By the way, the movie you've mentioned is not available in this country, and I dare say it will never be shown.  Its like so many other movies like this.  If you ask if they stock it - the answer is no.  But if you were to ask if they stock movies that glamorises sex and violence, there's a mountain-load of 'em.

Brian:  I'm with you. PG is far enough.  Like Stevie, however, I make a rare exception.  I did watch and appreciate Freedom Writers, which is PG-13 because it is about inner city kids.  The negativity in it is not for show or glamor.  It is a vital part of the story which shows how a teacher helps them overcome their self-destruction and environment.

Marilyn:  Movies with meaning are indeed rare.  But even a human life with meaning is rare in our contemporary culture.

Stevie:  UK needs to show this movie.  That is a good point that every now and then violence or other sin is such a part of an important message.  However, even then we should be careful what we put in our minds.  We should pray and be sure God wants us to see it lest we fall into sin.
