I’ve been using Twitter now for a little over 8 months. In that time I’ve posted over 1,400 tweets. I also set up a Twitter account for Henderson Hills, www.twitter.com/hendersonhills. Here are some of the reasons:
- There are more and more people I know that are using Twitter to stay connected with friends, family, and businesses.
- Twitter has grown immensely since the first of the year.
- Many are getting their information online rather than through bulletins, email, and other forms of communication.
- Twitter is a fast and easy way to communicate with a large number of people.
- It costs ZERO $’s to use.
- It is so easy to set up and to make a post.
- There are now ways to integrate your twitter messages with other social media: facebook, blogs, etc.
Twitter is a great way to keep those who “twitter” informed, but one of the problems that we have encountered is that there are not very many who use Twitter. So, a question comes to mind how do you inform both those that do have a Twitter account and those that don’t that Henderson Hills has a Twitter account?
Here are some of the ways other churches have used Twitter:
- Sending out info about upcoming events
- Asking questions to members
- Commenting on worship and the message
- Updating information about an event
- Promoting blogs
- Asking for volunteers
Anyone else using Twitter to communicate in the church? If so, how are you using Twitter or how could we use Twitter effectively at Henderson Hills?
Here are a few blog posts from others about Twitter and the Church:
